Portsmouth to cast eye over triallists in Luton reserve clash
Pompey will cast their eye over ‘one or two triallists’ in today's reserve game against Luton Town under-23s.
The Blues take on the Championship Hatters in a behind-closed-doors clash at Gosport Borough's Privett Park (1pm).
It's the first reserve game of the season organised. Pompey previously struggled because of the coronavirus crisis and the recent bad weather.
The likes of Ben Close, Paul Downing and Duncan Turnbull are expected to feature for Mark Kelly's side to get them much-needed minutes.
And Kenny Jackett admitted Pompey will be running the rule over some triallists with a look towards the future.
Speaking to the club's media department, the Blues boss said: ‘We have some players that need some minutes as we come through the heavy pitches.
‘With the better pitches, we will be having some games for some players that need to come back from injury, for some of our younger players as well.
‘There will be a mixture against Luton at Gosport, one or two triallists as well, and we'll be staging one or two of those games between now and the end of the season.
‘One to help some of our senior players, two for our younger players then take the opportunity to take a look at one or two coming in on trial.’
