Portsmouth to lose Ronan Curtis following Republic of Ireland call-up for World Cup Qualifiers

Pompey will be without Ronan Curtis for one match following his Republic of Ireland call-up.

The winger is available for Saturday’s clash with Ipswich, expected to mark Danny Cowley’s first match in charge.

However, on Sunday he will travel to meet the Stephen Kenny’s Irish squad ahead of three fixtures.

And that will rule him out of the trip to Steve Cotterill’s Shrewsbury on Saturday, March 27.

The Republic Of Ireland have World Cup Qualifier matches against Serbia (March 24) and Luxembourg (March 27).

They will then meet Qatar in Hungary for a friendly on March 30.

With the Blues without midweek games for the next few weeks, it meets Curtis is absent from Fratton Park duty for just Shrewsbury.

Impressively, Curtis is the sole League One player present in Kenny’s Ireland squad.

However, Marcus Harness, has not been included.

The winger had been asked to train with Kenny’s men for their last get together in November, albeit without being officially named in their squad.

Yet there is no such invite for the forthcoming three matches.
