The Pompey winger replaced Norwich’s Adam Idah on 71 minutes as the two nations competed in a friendly at Wembley behind closed doors.

The hosts won the game 3-0 thanks to efforts from Harry Maguire (18 minutes), Jadon Sancho (31) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (pen, 56).

Curtis’ introduction failed to affect the final score but he did sting the hands of substitute England keeper Dean Henderson – one of only two shots on target from the Irish.

The 24-year-old will miss the Blues’ League One trip to Plymouth on Monday night, with Eire in Nations League action against Wales on Sunday, before entertaining Bulgaria on Wednesday.

Curtis has made 16 appearances for Pompey this season, scoring six goals.
