But, aside from a groin injury over the Christmas period, the 26-year-old has been available for selection.
Williams is content with what his overall return says about his fitness - and his contribution to positive results.
He said: ‘I always think if you play 30 or 35-plus games is fully taking part in the season. That’s how I view it.

Hide Ad‘The aim at the start of the season is to try to be available for every game.
‘I think the games I have played we’ve enjoyed more wins than losses.
‘When I came into the team we went through that period when we were really consistent and getting the job done.

He added: ‘It’s okay (playing 34 games) considering I was injured for the first few games and I had a little period over Christmas where all the football caught up with me a bit.
‘It’s been a little bit stop-start and not as consistent in terms of game time as what I would’ve imagined.

‘Hopefully we can still create some really good memories this season.
‘We’ve got a lot to look forward to, not that I haven’t enjoyed the game so far because most of the games at Fratton are quite eventful and fun to be involved in, and there was the Southampton and Arsenal games when the fans were unbelievable.
‘There’s been some good ones so far, but the one which which will trump them are getting promoted and the EFL Trophy final.’
