The duo were nominated for the player and manager-of-the-month prizes after impressing the panel of judges.

Harness took his place among the division’s best players after registering five goals from his seven games played in October.

He set the month alight – and the Blues’ third-tier campaign – thanks to a brilliant hat-trick at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium.

It handed Pompey their first league win of the season and got him firing on all cylinders as Jackett’s side put their below-par start to the campaign behind them.

His further two strikes also contributed to important wins at Sunderland and Northampton as the 24-year-old revelled in a positional switch brought on by the manager’s decision to be more flexible with his formation.

Jackett, meanwhile, secured five victories from the Blues’ seven games played – a decent way to defy the doubters after a difficult beginning to the 2020-21 season.

However, neither Harness nor Jackett’s impressive feats were enough to claim the top monthly prizes.

Charlton keeper Ben Amos got the player awarded, after his six clean sheets helped the Addicks climb the table.

And the manager of the month award went to Peterborough’s Darren Ferguson.

He oversaw six Posh league wins and a draw last month – a run that has seen the London Road outfit leap to the top of the League One standings.
