Elite level games were initially suspended until April 3.

However, that has now been extended until April 30 at the earliest, following the publishing of a joint statement from the footballing authorities this afternoon.

The shutdown has led to fears clubs may struggle to survive, with many running on a hand-to-mouth basis.

Shortly afterwards, a letter was sent out to all Championship, League One and League Two on how much they’re being offered.

It was obtained by BBC News’ sports editor Dan Roan, who posted a photo of it Twitter.

The letter shows that the basic award payment due to Pompey and their third-tier rivals will be £252,200.

Payments will land in clubs’ bank accounts today.

Then, if required, teams will be able to borrow up to a maximum of £182,800 from the loan facility being made available ‘out of future seasons revenue’.

An additional £1m from the EFL future pot is also available.

That payment is ‘distributed on a pro-rata basis to clubs who provide opportunities in the starting line-up for players under the age of 21 and qualified to play for England (or Wales, in the case of Cardiff City, Swansea City, and Newport County)’.

Pompey haven’t had any starters in the league under 21 this season, although they have given opportunities to Haji Mnoga, Leon Maloney, Brad Lethbridge, Josh Flint and Joe Hancott in the Leasing.com Trophy.

In addition, the EFL said it will help any clubs that need government support.

On Tuesday, Chancellor Rishi Sunak unveiled a £330bn package to help small and medium-sized businesses through the pandemic.
