Now, thanks to an exciting development at The News’ Lakeside Towers HQ, we are today able to unveil a new metric which is set to revolutionise the game and push the boundaries of what can be achieved from looking at a load of numbers for a long time.

The xProscoutoptazone© system will be able to crunch the figures to tell us what will happen over the season’s finale in League One - and crucially definitively reveal who will be celebrating promotion to the Championship on May 3.

Using a patented algorithm known as Lookingatthefixtures™, we have been able to decipher the outcome of every single one of the remaining fixtures this term and, with all the certainty of Joey Essex attempting to crack the Enigma code, inform readers exactly what will happen to Pompey over their remaining 11 games.

Beta testing of this system sensationally saw the dramatic title win of Paul Cook’s side predicted three years ago, but we can now launch version 2.0, below, as we breakdown what will happen to each of the main contenders for promotion with all the unerring focus of Barry Harris zeroing in on a wayward football on a Saturday afternoon.

However, it’s predicted non will accrue enough points from the remaining games to get above the total of those analysed, and therefore aren’t featured.

But, yes, from the remaining games Pompey will deliver a continuation of the form they’ve been showing since October to seal an automatic slot to reach the Championship.

A return of 24 points from their final 11 games is actually below the 2.25 points per game threshold they’ve been steaming along at since the home win over Lincoln on October 22.

The single loss predicted for Kenny Jackett’s men will arrive this weekend against Peterborough at London Road.

Looking at the way things are shaping up, the one fixture which is clearly going to be critical to their promotion hopes is the visit to the New York Stadium on Good Friday. With Rotherham likely to be in the automatic shake-up to the death avoiding defeat is going to be critical. Then it’s a case of doing exactly the same at Ipswich and Oxford United.

The rest then will then ride on Kenny Jackett’s men continuing their imperious Fratton form for the rest of the campaign.

The predictions, broadly, have the other rivals in the promotion shake-up continuing the form and traits they’ve been showing in recent weeks and months.

That means strong finishes for Coventry, Rotherham and Sunderland. Peterborough will go well but haven’t got points in the bag while Wycombe run out of steam, as they seem to be doing with eight defeats in 14.

As for Pompey? Well, just as the new era of analytics forecasted three years ago, it’s going to a riveting finale to the season – once which will once again have us celebrating a dramatic success.
