Tom Naylor’s strike to double Pompey’s advantage knocked the stuffing out of King’s Lynn before Sean Raggett, Marcus Harness, Ellis Harrison and Jordy Hiwula all bagged.

Dayle Southwell notched a consolation goal for the Norfolk side, giving them something to cheer on the day.

With the club only being founded a decade ago, Culverhouse saluted King’s Lynn’s incredible run in the FA Cup, having knocked League Two Port Vale in the first round.

But in the end, he knew the Blues’ potency proved too much for his plucky side.

Culverhouse told lynnnews.co.uk: ‘The gulf in class showed, didn't it? They were ruthless, I thought.

‘We were hoping to catch them where their attitude wasn’t right, but they attacked it really well and their attitude was spot on.

‘Our character from conceding so early was good. We got a little bit of belief, broke a couple of times on them and when a chance arose, we just had to be good at taking our chance. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.

They face Bromley on Tuesday – where Reeco Hackett-Fairchild is currently on loan.
