The coronavirus outbreak means ‘emergency measures to preserve the club’ have been put in place by the Bees, with National League games postponed until April 3.

The London side claim their relegation from the Football League has resulted in ‘operational losses of approximately £100,000 per month’.

Lowe graduated through The Hive’s academy and made 13 appearances before dropping into non-league.

He made his Football League return when he joined Pompey from Hampton & Richmond Borough for an undisclosed fee in January 2017.

In his two-and-a-half seasons at Fratton Park, Lowe made hurtling progress. He bagged 30 goals in 119 appearances, helping the Blues to clinch the League Two title months after his arrival and the Checkatrade Trophy last season.

However, Pompey's failure to reach the Championship meant Lowe joined Wigan in August following a protracted transfer saga.

On Twitter, Bees head coach Darren Currie wrote: ‘There is nothing quite like a kind gesture, a friendly face, a reassuring cuddle even, times like this good people deserve credit,

@JamzLowe has just offered financial support to our academy in the wake of recent news.

‘I don’t know you personally but you have my respect.’
