Left-back is an area of Kenny Jackett’s squad that he will need to address with plotting the Blues’ recruitment.
Currently, Pompey don’t have a senior option under contract. Lee Brown remains in negotiations, Brandon Haunstrup is closing in on a move to Kilmarnock and Steve Seddon’ has returned to Birmingham after an impressive loan spell.
Even if Brown does pen a new deal, cover will need to be found in the role.
Of course, Pompey will have to take into account the salary cap that’s looking likely to be introduced when making signing.
But here’s a look at the potential players that could be on the Blues’ radar...
1. Alex Cochrane
A target that Pompey have certainly got on their radar. Cochrane's a regular for Brighton's under-23s and captained their under-21s in the Leasing.com Trophy. He's also an England under-20 international. Photo: Alex Burstow
2. Luke Garbutt
Who? The video of Carlo Ancelotti’s reaction when asked why Garbutt’s release went viral earlier this month, with the player himself seeing the funny side. He had a good season-long loan at Ipswich and is now seeking a permanent home. Wages could be a problem, though. Photo: Graham Hunt
3. Stephen Kingsley
The Scot hasn’t had his deal extended by Hull having made eight appearances this season. He was troubled by a hip injury and says he knows how to manage it now. Kingsley has played in the Premier League for Swansea earlier in his career. Photo: Ashley Allen
4. Harry Pickering
An exciting 21-year-old who helped Crewe to League Two promotion. However, he has a year left on his deal at Alexandra and would require a fee which is unlikely at this stage. Photo: Pete Norton
