The 19-year-old’s five appearances have all been from the bench, with Tom Naylor and Andy Cannon remaining the Pompey boss’ preferred midfield duo.

And despite his lack of minutes, the Maidstone-born lad has been catching the eye of Jackett.

The Pompey boss said: ‘Harvey played an excellent pass right at the end against Swindon on Tuesday (a 2-0 win) that nearly played Ellis Harrison in.

‘There are good signs and I feel offers creativity and distribution from midfield.

‘Tottenham wanted him to come in, compete and have this experience.

‘Of course, he and Spurs would want him to have game-time but he is at the good club where there is good competition.

‘I'm sure he will keep pushing hard and when he gets his chance, because he's getting substitute appearances at the minute, he will take some shifting because I do feel he is a quality player.’

Although he still awaits his chance at Fratton Park, Jackett reckons the move away from the Londoners is boding well for the England youth international’s career.

He added: ‘It's a good experience for him. It's his first loan and he is a really good young player.

‘You can see the quality when he comes on what he can bring to our team.’
