'Welcome to Portsmouth, Pring... open your eyes Kenny... still decent line-up' - Pompey fans react to starting XI for Shrewsbury game

Pompey fans have taken to social media to register their dismay at manager Kenny Jackett’s decision to leave new-boy Cameron Pring out of his starting XI for today’s game against Shrewsbury.

The Bristol City loanee, who started Tuesday night’s EFL Trophy triumph over Colchester, was expected to start the League One opener against the Shrews.

However, Jackett has instead opted for Brown, who began the Carabao Cup game against Stevenage two weeks ago.

He’s the only change to the starting XI that beat the U’s at Fratton Park in midweek, with Jack Whatmough starting in defence and right-back Callum Johnson handed his league debut.

Here’s how fans reacted to the line-up named by the Blues for the visit of Shrewsbury.

@ffslluke: Knew Lee Brown would squirm his way back in after Pring played well on Tuesday.

@aducky84: Welcome to Portsmouth Pring...you weren't expecting to play were you?!

Need to a No 10/CAM very much highlighted with this selection, sorry Evans just not good enough for me!

@Jake_PFC: Poor Pring already learning what it’s like to be managed by KJ.

@blublud84: Don’t understand the hate towards Brown. Bryn Morris is the more worrying selection.

@Pompeytucks: Think Brown is in because Shrewsbury are bit more physical. Pring will be back in Thursday U hope.

@84Knight: @BristolCity you may as well take Pring back.

He’s not going to play, other than FL Trophy games.

@LeggNuts: Still decent lineup tho pup

@the3rdmitchell: Evans?....open your eyes Kenny. We have better options. Feel for Pring too after Tuesday.

@pfclouis: Happy with that tbf. Brown will do.

@Jamesr02_: Would’ve started Pring over Brown and Cannon over Evans but other than that good lineup
