Having spent his career at Pompey’s bitter rivals Southampton it’s easy to see why the former England international is not well favoured in the PO area.

However, Le Tissier will be at the Blues’ League One play-off semi-final clash against Oxford on Friday – or at least in spirit.

Not only that, but he’ll be cheering on Pompey while donning the royal blue colours of Pompey from inside Fratton Park.

With the Blues selling cardboard cutouts to be placed in the North Stand Lower, someone has bought one with Le Tissier’s face on.

Pompey have also played a part in the jesting, placing a home shirt over the cutout.

In a post on Twitter, Pompey wrote: Many thanks for your support, @mattletiss7! Don’t worry, we sorted you out with a shirt.’

Of course, it’s not the first time that Le Tissier has donned the star and crescent.

For Steve Claridge’s testimonial in 2003, the Sky Sports pundit was part of an International XI and wore Pompey’s gold away strip.
