That’s according to Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony, who has suggested an add-on clause was included as part of Christian Burgess’ move to Fratton Park from London Road in 2015.

Back then the centre-back joined the Blues from Peterborough for £150,000.

And he’s been a key player ever since, helping Pompey clinch the League Two title in 2017 and claim victory in last season’s Checkatrade Trophy final against Sunderland.

This term has witnessed Burgess produce the best form of his PO4 career, as Kenny Jackett’s side mounted a concerted promotion push before the season was suspended.

The Blues are hoping to fulfil their remaining nine fixtures of the 2019-20 campaign amid the coronavirus crisis.

That will see Pompey enter a traditional four-team play-off where they’ll meet Oxford in the semi-finals and face either Wycombe or Fleetwood at a neutral venue.

Replying to a Pompey fan on Twitter, the Irishman said: ‘To be honest bud, we have a nice 6 figure bonus also due if Pompey go up.’

In total, Burgess has made 208 appearances for Pompey, scoring 12 goals.
