Gareth Ainsworth has insisted Wycombe won’t do Pompey’s League One title rivals Sunderland any favours today.
The Chairboys boss will ‘be gutted’ if his side don’t get a result at the Stadium of Light – which would ensure Kenny Jackett's men remain at the summit of the table.
The Blues are without a fixture this weekend after their clash with Charlton was postponed.
It means they could end the day demoted to second place if Sunderland deliver a victory over Wycombe.
Jack Ross’ high-flyers will start as firm favourites to defeat the 15th-placed visitors.
Ainsworth, however, takes solace from Wycombe’s form against the top teams this term – including a 2-2 draw at Pompey.
And he’s confident his troops can ‘ruin a few accumulators’ and clinch a win against the Black Cats.
The Chairboys boss told his club’s website: ‘We know Sunderland are the favourites to win but we’re going there hoping to ruin a few accumulators and show what we’re capable of.
‘We’ve played well against some of the top teams so far this season.
‘Even though Sunderland are on this fantastic run, we’ll be gutted if we don’t come away with anything because we always believe we can match any team on our day.
‘Some of our boys will have played at big grounds like the Stadium of Light before but for some of the younger lads it’ll be a new experience and it’s one to be excited about and hold no fear.
“We’re going to go out there with every ambition to get something out of the game and I believe that my players can do it.’
