Young Portsmouth side fall to defeat at AFC Portchester
A young Pompey XI side fell to a 3-0 defeat at AFC Portchester on Saturday.
No first-team players were present at the Crest Finance Stadium as Kenny Jackett’s men picked up a penalty shootout victory over Stevenage in the Carabao Cup first round.
The Blues fielded all academy youngsters against the Wessex League premier division side.
However, they were without prolific striker Alfie Stanley. The third-year scholar was an unused substitute at Stevenage.
Lee Wort fired a first-half double for Portchester before Lee Molyneaux netted after the interval to round off their win.
A number of the fledgling talents will feature when Pompey visit Gosport Borough on Tuesday (7.45pm).
They could be joined by first-team players such as Jack Whatmough, Ben Close and Haji Mnoga who need minutes ahead of the new League One season.
