Traditionally, visiting fans are housed in at least the first two sections of Fratton Park's away section.

Should additional seats become available through the opposition not requiring all tickets, Blues followers are then located in the south-east segment.

However, for the visits of Fleetwood and Burton over the next two games, seating is to be switched.

It means two thirds of the Milton End will be allotted to Pompey fans '“ with visiting supporters handed the final third in the south-east section.

Chief executive Mark Catlin said: '˜Fleetwood and Burton are deemed low risk and won't be bringing many fans, which enables us to sell more on the north-east corner.

'˜So we will be putting fans in different sections. It is something we are experimenting with this weekend and on Tuesday to see if it works.

'˜If you look at the Checkatrade games, we have experimented with supporters in the North Stand lower and Stand Stand upper. A lot of football clubs tend to close minds, but we are always looking at new ways at enhancing experience on a match day.

'˜It doesn't potentially give us that many more seats for home supporters, but the facilities in that north-east end can cope with more fans than the other way around.

'˜This is not about getting extra capacity, more that our fans get a better experience.

'˜We can only ever go up to 1,400 in the south-east section anyway. If you try to overfill it then on a Monday morning mine and Johnny Moore's emails are absolutely rammed full of people that have had a bad experience.

'˜We don't want that either, whether queuing for toilets or food.'

Pompey face Fleetwood (October 20) and Burton (October 23) during successive Fratton Park fixtures.
