Meanwhile, Whatmough (hamstring) and Walkes (groin) were withdrawn at half-time for Christian Burgess and Nathan Thompson.

The trio underwent scans on their respective complaints today.

Although all three are unlikely to be out for an extensive period of time, Joe Gallen confirmed they will be absent for tomorrow night's Checkatrade Trophy clash against Gillingham at Fratton Park.

And the Blues' assistant manager feels they won't be available for Saturday's League One visit of Shrewsbury Town.

Gallen said: '˜All three are muscle injuries. They all had a scan today to see where they are in terms of how long they may or may not be out for.

'˜It's safe to say it's not an ideal situation for us.

'˜It's something that we have spoken extensively about.

'˜We're disappointed for sure because we want to keep everyone fit and keep the squad as healthy as it can be.

'˜We will know a bit more after their scans.

'˜But it's safe to they will be out for the Gillingham game and more than likely for Saturday.'
