The winger has featured in every League One game for Pompey this campaign.

He's been key for Kenny Jackett's table-toppers '“ with six goals and four assists in 16 appearances.

Although he's still impressed, not least with a man-of-the-match display at Accrington last Saturday, Lowe has failed to net or create a goal in his past six outings.

The 24-year-old has told how his scintillating early-season form made him raise his own levels of expectation.

Now the former Barnet talent is frustrated he's been on a dry spell in the final third.

Lowe revealed he's disappointed not to score even when Pompey win and he is desperate to hit the goal trail once more.

He said: '˜It's been a great start to the season from me.

'˜Obviously, I got six goals and four assists quite quickly but now there's been a little spell where I haven't quite scored.

'˜If it was more spread out then it's amazing.

'˜It has been a great start and I can't say that I'm disappointed.

'˜However, there is always room for improvement. I've put my expectations up there and now I've got to keep it up.

'˜That's part of life. You want to score every week, everyone does. It's one of those things.

'˜You can't get complacent otherwise your place is gone.

'˜You're always striving for more.

'˜I always want to score and I'm always disappointed if I don't score.

'˜Selfishly, even if we win and I haven't scored, I think I should have scored.

'˜That's part of the game. Someone has got to score and I want it to be me.'

Lowe looks almost guaranteed to surpass his goal tally from last campaign.

He netted eight times in 50 games in all competitions, as well as setting up seven, as Pompey finished eighth in League One.

Having arrived from non-league Hampton & Richmond Borough for an undisclosed fee in January 2017, Lowe continues to make hurtling progress in his Football League career.

He's into his second full season at Fratton Park and believes his exploits last campaign have boosted his confidence significantly.

'˜I've gained a lot of confidence in my game since last season,' added Lowe.

'˜That's hopefully part of what you can see in my performances.

'˜Hopefully that can continue.'
