Both were substituted having suffered knocks in Saturday's visit to Scunthorpe, but returned to training yesterday.

It means Kenny Jackett has the option of fielding an unchanged side for Pompey's first league match at Fratton Park in 36 days.

Joe Mason is still not ready to return from injury, with Sunday's FA Cup second-round trip to Rochdale pencilled in as a possible comeback for the attacker.

Dion Donohue also remains sidelined with his hamstring problem, while Andre Green is battling to break into the match-day 18.

For the Saddlers, Winger Zeli Ismail is a doubt.

The 24-year-old was forced off with a thigh injury in Walsall's 2-2 home draw against Sunderland on Saturday.

Kieron Morris could come in to replace Ismail should the Albanian-born wide man not recover in time for the Fratton Park meeting.

Long-term absentees, captain Adam Chambers (broken foot), and vice-skipper Joe Edwards (ligament damage) are still out.

Former Blues loanee Connor Ronan is likely to be on the bench.

Likely line-ups:

Pompey: Craig MacGillivray, Nathan Thompson, Jack Whatmough, Matt Clarke, Lee Brown, Tom Naylor, Ben Thompson, Jamal Lowe, Gareth Evans, Ronan Curtis, Oli Hawkins. Subs: Luke McGee, Christian Burgess, Brett Pitman, Ben Close, David Wheeler, Anton Walkes, Brandon Haunstrup.
