Ramsey set to make Royals debut against Blackfield

The experienced midfielder joined the Royals from Vanarama National League South neighbours Gosport Borough earlier in the week.

Manager Graham Rix regards it as a real coup for the promotion-chasing club who will be desperate to get a victory at Gang Warily.

‘We have done well to recruit him and it shows the ambition here at our club,’ said Rix.

Ramsey couldn’t be making his debut in a more important game as the fourth-placed Royals attempt to leapfrog their third-placed hosts.

Both teams have applied for promotion to the Southern league at the end of the season so there is a lot at stake.

They know to achieve their ambition they will almost certainly have to finish in the top two.

‘This is a big game and one we certainly wouldn’t want to lose,’ said Rix.

‘So far this season we have only been beaten once in the league and that is something we are proud of.

‘It is a record we are determined to maintain.’

Second-placed Horndean return to action after an enforced break against Hamworthy United at Five Heads Park (3pm).

Manager Craig Pearce is hoping they can carry on where they left off before the bad weather.

‘It is important we pick up things straight away and don’t use the break as an excuse,’ said Pearce.

‘None of the teams in our league have played a lot recently.

‘We must continue with our hard work and playing the way we want to play.’

Horndean are without full-back Lee Tigwell due to a stomach injury.

And Matt Burt also misses out on the match because he is serving a one-match suspension.

Fareham Town are looking to stage their first home game in over two months with Team Solent the visitors to Cams Alders (3pm).

Reds boss Steve Stone knows his side need some playing time desperately.

He added: ‘We are just desperate to get playing again.

‘There is a danger some of our loan players could leave if we are not able to provide them with games.’

Hawks loanee goalkeeper Charlie Searle left earlier in the week to join Salisbury FC for that reason.

Stone is hoping experienced goalkeeper Luke Douglas will step up to solve the problem.
