Confusion arose in the wake of the transfer over whether Chaplin could feature when the two sides meet in their first league encounter of the season.

Mark Robins had suggested the Worthing talent would be available in League One '“ but not if the clubs drew each other in a cup competition.

Following Coventry's 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Saturday, Turner asked during the post-match press conference if Chaplin had been granted permission to face Pompey.

But he was told the striker is not allowed to be involved.

Turner wrote on Twitter: '˜Yes I asked and no he (Chaplin) isn't allowed to play.'
