Revealed: Portsmouth's player ratings for SeptemberÂ

Pompey ended September at the summit of the League One table.

The Blues' 3-1 victory at Rochdale ensured they finished the second month of the season at the top of the table.

Throughout September, Kenny Jackett's troops picked up 14 points in total, clinching three victories and two draws.

The News sports desk dusted down the calculator and worked out the players' average ratings during last month using those marks out of 10 '“ allocated in the paper and at portsmouth.co.uk after each game.

And Matt Clarke and Jamal Lowe were Pompey's top performers throughout September.

Both recorded an average match rating of 7.8 from their five appearances, playing a key role in the Blues' early promotion charge.

Lowe was one of Jackett's chief threats going forward. He registered three goals and three assists last month.

The winger picked up The News' man of the match against Wycombe after assisting Gareth Evans and Brett Pitman in the 2-2 draw. 

Clarke was consistent throughout and continued his hurtling progress.

The centre-back also netted his first league goal of the campaign in the win over Rochdale, gaining a match rating of nine for his performance at Spotland. 

Back in joint-third were Brett Pitman and Jack Whatmough, both averaging 7.5.

Despite being behind Oli Hawkins in the striking pecking order for the majority of the month, Pitman constantly impressed off the bench, scoring in draws against Shrewsbury and Wycombe.

Whatmough only made two appearances last month but certainly caught the eye.

He picked up a hamstring injury in the 3-0 win over Plymouth and was withdrawn at half-time for Christian Burgess.

After a short stint on the sidelines, the academy product regained his starting spot at Rochdale and was handed a match rating of eight. 

Meanwhile, at the other end, the likes of Andre Green (5), Brandon Haunstrup (6) and Joe Mason (6) were given limited opportunities to impress.
