Street-wise Moneys out to extend their run

Their sixth-placed opponents are likely to make it a difficult afternoon for them.

But Moneys manager Dave Carter, whose side sit third in the table, is backing his troops to maintain their good form.

'By the end of next weekend we will have played all the teams in the top 10,' said Carter.

'A lot of those games have been away from home. That has to augur well for the second half of the season.

'At the moment we are sitting comfortably in third spot '“ seven points clear in the play-off places.

'I am happy with that at this stage of the season.

'In the league we have not been beaten since the end of August.

'The pitches at this time of year do start to get heavier but that isn't anything to worry us.

'We have a big, strong, physical side and if we have to play the ball in the air then we can do that.

'In some ways it suits us and having Steve Hutchings up top helps with this.'

Moneyfields missed the chance to go joint-top of the league on Tuesday when they were thwarted by the weather.

Their home game against Paulton Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

One bonus, however, was that it allowed a few players who were carrying knocks a few extra days rest.

One player who has been influential in Moneys' excellent form is full-back Rob Evans.

Originally from Moneyfields, he had been playing at AFC Portchester, but Carter persuaded him to return.

'Rob has been great for us with his pace getting up and down the wing,' said Carter.

'I knew he would have no problem stepping up to our level.

'Defensively, not many opposition wingers get past him.

'Scoring a few more goals would add to his armoury.'
