Organised by the Pompey History Society, the twice-annual event also incorporates a programme and memorabilia fair and the opportunity to have a tour of Fratton Park at a family-friendly cost.

The Nationwide League Championship trophy from 2003 will also be on display, as well as a series of special boards commemorating each of the club’s promotion seasons.

Taking place in the Victory Lounge, there will also be a free display of artefacts and memorabilia from those years and it is hoped some former players from those seasons, including Alan Knight, Vince Hilaire and Vincent Pericard, will be able to attend.

The Pompey Pals charity will also be putting on a free display about the soldiers who left the city from 1914 to fight in the Great War.

The tours of the stadium, starting from the VIP entrance in Frogmore Road, will be priced at £10 for adults with an accompanied under 18 going free.

The tours start from 10.45am at half-hour intervals.

Colin Farmery, who heads up history and archiving projects, said: ‘The Sullivan shirt was a real turn up.

‘We held a memory morning last Friday for our older fans and one called Gary Buckner turned up with it in a bag.

‘Apparently Sullivan threw his shirt to the crowd after the final game against Plymouth and by a roundabout way it has ended up in Gary’s possession.

‘Items such as this are quite rare, so we are delighted to be able to borrow it.’
