Gosport made a decent start to the game, with Patrick Suraci forcing a save out of visiting keeper Lloyd Irish in the first minute.

The home side continued to dominate the early stages, with player-manager McAllister heading over Suraci's cross five minutes later.

Borough stopper Pat O'Flaherty kept out a Taunton effort in the seventh minute with a decent stopper.

And the visitors broke the deadlock on 20 minutes through HALL.

Pierce Mitchell whipped in a cross from the right and Hall was there to steer an effort home.

Taunton continued to press their foot on the gas and had a second goal disallowed on the stroke of half-time when Sullivan's shot was adjudged to hit an offside player on it's way in.

The Peacocks started the second half the way they ended the first, putting Gosport under serious pressure.

In the 48th minute, Ed Palmer cracked a shot that rattled off O'Flaherty's post.

A minute later Sullivan went close to doubling Taunton's advantage but his effort narrowly went over the crossbar.

The Peacocks' pressure eventually told and they increased their lead in the 58th minute when SULLIVAN curled a low shot beyond O'Flaherty.

Borough reduced the deficit late on through substitute PENNERY but it proved too little, too late.Â
