Chesterfield are set to discuss the issue further with manager Danny Wilson when he returns from holiday.

Spireites chief-executive, Chris Turner, said: ‘The player has been chased for the last two weeks. We’ve had two offers and knocked them both back.

‘We don’t want the player to leave the club but it’s hard to say. I’ll put the ball in Danny’s court, he’s the manager. If Danny says the player wants to go, he’s been offered X and it’s a great deal then he’ll go.

‘If Danny says he doesn’t want him to go then he stays. It’s as simple as that. But the problem becomes when the player knows what he’s going to get paid at the next club and I don’t know how you stop that, it happens everywhere.’
