Two top scorers take Sunday League tally to a combined 56 goals in just 17 matches

The two leading scorers in the Portsmouth Sunday League maintained their extraordinary records.

Zac Wilett and Simon Woods entered lockdown having belted an astonishing 56 goals between them in 2020/21 in only 17 matches!

Woods’ double gave Division 4 leaders Wicor Mill their seventh consecutive victory, 2-0 against AFC Lakeside Refit. That took his seasonal tally to 28 in nine games.

Third-placed Southsea United also boast a 100 per cent league record, but they have only played three matches.

In their latest game, Willett took his seasonal total to 28 - in only eight games - with another hat-trick as Southsea thrashed Co-op Dragons 11-2.

Bayley Whitcombe also grabbed a treble with Aaron Behan (2), Kieran Blackman, Rob Robertson and Casey Pack completing the rout. Clayton Saunders twice replied.

Cosham Trades are in second place after a 5-1 victory over Freehouse A thanks to goals from Taylor Hanson (2), Callum Grigg (2) and Morgan Easen.

Bradley Hartill hit a hat-trick as AC Copnor defeated Saturn Royale 3-1, Mark Chukwuma replying.

Shepherd’s Crook Panthers enjoyed a stunning first half in their Division 5 victory over lowly AFC Eastney.

They scored all their goals in the opening 45 minutes with Jacob Wade (3), Jake Henwood (2), Harry Sargeant and Kyle Sargeant on target. Owen Scriven grabbed a second half consolation.

Barry Jeans struck twice as Fratton Trades Reserves maintained second place with a 4-2 victory over Portsville Park. Andy Turnbull and Dan Thornton also netted.

Horndean Utd entered half-time 3-0 up against Al’s Bar thanks to goals from Sam Hatherley, Pete Snaith and Ste Downall. They survived a second half recovery to win 3-2.
