The Reds are due to welcome the South Gloucestershire side, placed under the strictest tier three restrictions, to Cams Alders for a first round meeting on Saturday.

But with Fareham still waiting a decision from the Wessex League on a season resumption, Stiles is unsure if the tie will take place as planned.

The tier three ruling states that Roman's players and staff can travel into a tier two area although their supporters are unable to attend the match.

Under the guidelines, Fareham are allowed to welcome home supporters but are likely to face restrictions on the sale of food and drink in the ground as they fall into the tier two category.

But Reds boss Stiles highlighted whether making the trip for an FA Vase tie is 'essential travel' for a team currently placed in a 'very high alert' area.

‘I’m really in the dark,' said the Fareham boss.

‘From my understanding, they can travel but their supporters can’t.

‘It’s funny when it says essential travel only (in tier three), is it essential? I don’t know.

‘We’re all meant to be back on Wednesday so I think they’re trying to get some sort of decision by tomorrow (the Wessex League).

‘They might say there’s no football and you can’t train, I don’t know or no games but you can train within certain numbers. I don’t know what they’re going to say.'

Should the game go ahead on Saturday Fareham will be aiming to continue their flying start to the season.

They'd won eight of their previous 11 matches prior to the 'non-elite' football suspension at the start of this month.
