University of Portsmouth lecturer's contribution to security industry are recognised

A UNIVERSITY of Portsmouth lecturer has been announced as runner-up in a prestigious industry award.

Risk and security expert Doctor Alison Wakefield just missed out on scooping the top prize for contributions to security section of the Women in Security Awards.

Dr Wakefield, a senior lecturer at the University’s Institute of Criminal Justice Studies, had her achievements honoured at the awards that are organised by Professional Security Magazine.

Dr Wakefield said: ‘I was surprised and delighted to be short-listed as a finalist 
among such an accomplished and inspiring field of candidates.

‘The list of nominations indicates just a fraction of the outstanding women operating in this traditionally male sector, and the awards are 
a terrific initiative in bringing their contributions to the 
fore.’
