The Royals created little against their Southern League South Premier hosts and were well beaten at the end.

'It was a tough game against a good Wimborne side,' said Catlin after his side’s preliminary round defeat against two divisions higher opponents.

'Unfortunately we conceded the first goal just when we looked like getting a foothold in the game.

'We still felt we were in the game at the break and emphasised the importance of starting the second period in the right fashion.

'Within a minute we gave the ball away in midfield to let Wimborne in for a second goal and it was virtually done and dusted.

'We huffed and puffed but didn't create a lot.

'Then they hit us on the break in the final minute to score a third.

'Wimborne's two quick wingers gave us lots of problems.

'It was disappointing but we knew beforehand it was going to be a big ask.

'If we were to win then we had to be at our best and we weren't

'In the end we didn't do enough to get through.'

Wimborne broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when the Royals failed to defend a corner.

Home captain Scott Arnold got in ahead of his defender and looped a half-volley into the top corner of the net.

The home side continued to create chances and the Royals goal had a number of narrow escapes before half-time.

Curtis Young broke down the right at the start of the second half and cut in to smash home a near post shot leaving the visitorswith a mountain to climb.

Two minutes into stoppage time his fellow winger Aiden Shepherd escaped on the other flank and scored with a low angled drive.
