Heath have made a superb start, making it seven victories from 12 league matches with a 2-0 home triumph over Stockbridge at the weekend.

After being rock bottom when last season went into lockdown, Locks are now third - though Paulsgrove and Fleetlands have four and three games in hand respectively.

But Whitfield insists the squad have nothing to fear.

'A realistic target for us is to try to break into that top three,' he said.

‘We know that the table sort of lies a bit at the moment because there are teams who have got games in hand on us.

'But we’ve got the points on the board, we’ve played all the top teams and we don’t fear playing them again.

‘In order for us to finish in that top three we need to win the majority of our games which is tough at this standard.

‘We go into every game at the moment, taking it one game at a time, with confidence we can get the win.'

Whitfield believes confidence is sky high after strikes in each half from Bradley Stone and sub Jake Bull helped see off Stockbridge.

Next up is fifth-placed Overton on Saturday before a home game next Wednesday against sixth-placed Fleetlands.

Locks have already beaten Overton in the Wessex League Cup, while they led 2-0 and 3-2 in their first game at Fleelands before losing 4-3.

‘Every game is difficult in this league,’ said Whitfield.

‘There are a couple of teams at the bottom who are struggling, but once you get past that every team is going to give you a game.'
