Whittingham remains focused on football

Guy Whittingham is adamant his side remains focused as the takeover situation rumbles on.

A court case is set to begin this morning to determine whether the Pompey Supporters’ Trust would be able to clinch the purchase of their club.

However, talk emerged last night that the hearing, during which Mr Justice Sales is to adjudicate on a price for Portpin to receive for Fratton Park, could be adjourned.

In the meantime, Pompey have a match to prepare for with Preston visiting Fratton Park this weekend.

Whittingham insists it has been business as usual through the week, regardless of the on-going situation away from the pitch.

Following the Football League’s confirmation of a 10-point deduction should the Blues eventually come out of administration, the club are clearly embroiled in a relegation scrap.

And the caretaker boss is concentrating on pulling off a Fratton Park win on Saturday to begin hauling those points back.

He said: ‘All we want is to have as stable a working environment as we possibly can.

‘But what we are doing is preparing for the game on Saturday.

‘The rest will take care of itself.

‘We cannot affect what happens in court or whatever.

‘I expect the odd thing will be filtered through to us over the next few days and I will be kept updated.

‘But we will carry on trying and preparing for the next game, which is Preston.

‘That is all we can do while others carry out their jobs.

‘And the players are looking forward to building on two good points on the road and returning to Fratton Park.’

Preston are currently 14th in League One, although have lost their last two matches.
