That is the verdict of the Nottingham Post’s Leigh Curtis.

However, he believes the Notts County fans’ favourite must succeed in the dirty side of the game to fulfil a ‘wonderful’ talent.

Aborah today signed for the Blues until the end of the season.

As a free agent following a mutually-agreed Magpies exit on transfer deadline day, Paul Cook has been able to snap up the midfielder.

Pompey fans may remember the 29-year-old’s outstanding display at Meadow Lane in October 2015, when the hosts won 2-1.

On that occasion, Aborah operated as a deep midfielder, although is capable of featuring in a more attacking role.

And Curtis is convinced the Belgian possesses the ability to make a Fratton impact.

The Notts County reporter said: ‘Stan is a wonderful footballer with bags of ability and can play with both feet.

‘He’s very strong and excellent in possession, as you would expect from somebody cultivated at Ajax who made his Champions League debut at the age of 17.

‘He has everything you want as a footballer and is certainly one of the most naturally-gifted players I have seen at this level.

‘The irony is, if Stan did the hard yards of the game he would win a move to a league which better suits his qualities.

‘He could easily play at the top end of League One and the Championship, where he would be allowed time on the ball to demonstrate his creativity.

‘I remember a former manager, John Sheridan, speaking at a fans forum about the magical things Stan was able to do and that if he could get an extra gear out of him would be a hell of a player.

‘That is the only thing holding him back. He needs to help himself.’

In terms of Aborah’s best position, Curtis believes it is higher up the pitch.

He added: ‘Stan can play numerous positions and initially operated as a defensive midfielder, getting the ball off the back four to start things moving.

‘I would employ him in an attacking role. He has wonderful vision, the ability to pick a pass and could play as a number 10.

‘Somebody once said being in a 4-4-2 is not his best position because he needs two hounds alongside him, which sums it up nicely.

‘But Pompey’s system could really suit him.’
