Gallery: Newcomers join the fun at Whiteley parkrun

Whiteley parkrun welcomed 50 tourists and also 10 new parkrunners for event 48 on Saturday.

It was a good day for setting new personal bests with 66 recorded.

Congratulations to William Gill, from Stubbington Green Runners, who joined the 100 club.

Also congratulations to Izzy Gillet who joined the 10 club after completing her 10th 5k parkrun as a junior.

In total 275 people completed the event which is hosted at Whiteley Meadowside.

Matt Risden, who represents Hedge End, had a strong run to finish first and he managed to stop the watch at exactly 17min for a fast new personal best time.

Paddy Haynes, of the University of Portsmouth, took the second position in 18.04.

City of Portsmouth’s Martin Stockley finished third in 18.15. Dan Taylor was fourth with Will Candy in fifth position.

The Hedge End club runners were out in big numbers and a good personal best time of 21.29 saw Kirsty Shannon finish first lady and she was 22nd overall.

Louise Griffin, of Portsmouth Joggers, also got a new personal best time as she completed the course in 22.06.
