Scott Gregory closed in on a European Tour card on Wednesday.

However, the Corhampton player faces a nailbiting final round at Q School on Friday to decide his fate.

Gregory, who hails from Waterlooville, is tied 10th on 17 under par after shooting a 66 in round five at Lumine Golf Club in Spain.

The top 25 finishers will all be handed cards for the 2019 campaign and the former British amateur champion is two shots ahead of that cut – with 18 holes remaining.

His current total of 340 comprises of rounds of 69, 71, 62 and 72.

South Africa’s Zander Lombard will lead the field into the final round on 21 under par.

Ben Evans and Daniel Gavins are the only Englishmen ahead of Gregory. They are both on 18 under par.

Only 10 shots separate the top 51 players in Tarragona – with a thrilling finale in prospect.
