THERE will be no local representation in the matchplay stages of the British Amateur Championships, which starts tomorrow.
Corhampton Golf Club’s Scott Gregory, Billy Mckenzie (Rowlands Castle) and Hayling’s Ben Wall all missed out on qualifying for the last-64 round of the prestigious competition at Carnoustie and Panmure.
The trio found themselves well over par following two rounds of strokeplay, which concluded this evening.
And that left them off the pace in terms of qualifying, with the cut being made at one-over par.
Scotland’s Craig Howie led the qualifiers with a seven-under-par total of 135 from the opening two days.
However, there was no room in the knockout stages for the local contingent, with last year’s English Amateur Championships runner-up, Scott Gregory, the best-placed after a four-over total of 146.
McKenzie, who is home for the summer from his scholarship in the States at William Woods University, Missouri, finished a stroke behind on five over (147)
Meanwhile, Wall completed his second round last this evening for a seven over (148) total to finish tied 167th.
