Darren Wright has joined up with an ex-Formula One racing driver and former Dragons’ Den star after joining a new management company.
The Golf At Goodwood professional earned his promotion to the European Challenge Tour after a fine season on the EuroPro last term and starts his campaign in Kenya in March.
Wright has signed up with sports management agency MB Partners – who have businessman Theo Paphitis as chairman and former race driver Mark Blundell as chief executive.
And Wright is hopeful their experties can open a few doors for him ahead of an important season.
He said: ‘There are three reasons to be with a management company.
‘One is that they do all of your bookings so you don’t need to worry about organising your travel and schedule.
‘The other things are that they might be able to get me into a couple of extra tournaments and find me some sponsorship, which is my main issue.
‘They have got a lot of contacts and experience in the sports industry and they might be able to find the right company.
‘I think it helps that they have plenty of knowledge of professional sport.
‘They also have a few young golfers on their books.
‘I know this is going to be a big season for me so to have that extra bit of support will be really useful.’
