Goodwood preview and tips for Wednesday

Primevere is being backed to end a long losing streak by taking top honours in the Eve Trakway Foundation Stakes at Goodwood on Wednesday afternoon.

The four-year-old won at Salisbury last August but has had little success since as trainer Roger Charlton has upped her sights to Group 3 company.

Primevere has run four times at that level this term and two seconds and a third have proved that she is well worth trying in Pattern races.

She chased home subsequent Group 1 winner Izzi Top on her seasonal bow, going down by just under two lengths, while her two most recent efforts have yielded runner-up spots.

The Singspiel filly was beaten a nose at Windsor before failing by half a length to Alla Speranza at Leopardstown earlier this month.

This Listed heat - the fifth race on a card of eight at Goodwood’s penultimate meeting of the season - represents a slight dip in class and while she has something to find with the likes of Ektihaam and Questioning on official figures, the application of a visor could just focus her mind.
