Gosport & Fareham blitzed by Chiswick

Head coach Barry Bridgman felt his side paid the price for a poor spell leading up to half-time.

‘For the first 25 minutes we were doing all right but then gave away four soft tries before half-time,’ he said.

‘We fell off our tackles and that allowed them to blitz us.

‘I knew then the game was gone.

‘We did score one very good try when Wayne Dugan was involved twice and the ball went through at least four pairs of hands.’

Fareham Heathens produced a clinical performance to beat Ventnor 64-14 in Hampshire One.

The hosts ran in 10 tries with Jashan Solanki and Steve Devoy both claiming hat-tricks.

Dan Lee, Andy Burns, Harry King and Peejay Mawi also claimed touchdowns.

Heathens set the tone with a stunning try on three minutes.

After turning the ball over, inside centre King burst through the Ventnor line and combined with Rob Impey to put Solanki over.

By half-time Heathens had raced into a 45-0 lead.

In the second period, Solanki continued to run the game in his new fly-half role.

Head coach Nick Davis was delighted with the organisation and discipline.

Locks Heath Pumas maintained their winning start in Hampshire two with a 59-0 victory at Kingsclere.

Coach Rich Rigby praised the work of Aaron Page, who has improved his squad’s strength and conditioning.

‘Aaron has put a lot of hard work into getting our young players fit again,’ said Rigby.

‘He is officially the third strongest man in the UK.

‘Last season we had the skill but lacked the fitness.

‘Now our players are strong and fast and that can be key.

‘I feel the squad have the potential to play a lot higher.’

Rob English, veteran Gary Canfield and Sam Floyd all grabbed a brace of tries.
