Great time for personal bests as Lakeside delivers smiles

A fantastic total of 198 runners joined in the fun on Saturday with 34 first timers and an amazing 44 personal bests at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun.

Pete Collins finished the 5k in first place on Saturday.

Naouele McHugh finished first lady with a new personal best of 20.25.

Hamish Cooper set a PB of 20.30 as he finished 11th and Glenn Barney was just behind with his new course best of 20.34.

Barry Griffin beat his previous best time at Lakeside as he finished in 20.51, while fellow Portsmouth Joggers runner Robert Langley continued his superb run of form with his fastest time on the course so far of 21.57.

Cat Underwood, of Baffins fitclub, ran 27.43, almost three minutes faster than her previous fastest for the Lakeside course from October 2016.

She was delighted to earn her post-run coffee with a new PB. She said: ‘Nice lakeside parkrun PB and I was four seconds from my Southsea PB. Very chilly run, and totally earned my coffee.’

Personal bests were also recorded by Benjamin Barron with his time of 22.28 and Brendan Bickley-Vaile who ran 23.45.

Tourist James Daly said: ‘We really enjoyed our visit from Leamington Spa, hopefully will be back in the future. Thanks to all the volunteers.’
