Hampshire are back in division one
Hampshire have been reinstated into County Championship division one.
The Ageas Bowl outfit, who were relegated on the final day of the season, have been handed a reprieve after financial issues at Durham.
The north east county defeated Hampshire by six wickets in that decisive fixture – a result which sealed their fate.
However, Hampshire can now look forward to a third season in the top flight after the ruling was made.
Durham have also lost the right to stage Test cricket at their Riverside Ground.
In addition, they will start the 2017 season in division two with a 48-point deducation.
The sanction has been agreed with the England and Wales Cricket Board as a condition of £3.8million of financial support from the national governing body.
