Havant parkrun ready to mark fourth anniversary

The volunteers are now gearing up for the fourth anniversary special for the parkrun this Saturday.

They are inviting runners to dress up as pirates and bring water pistols to help celebrate four great years of running at Staunton Country Park.

Theresa Finking made her Havant parkrun debut on Saturday.

She said: ‘It was my first one as staying at Hayling (Southampton is my home parkrun).

‘Everyone was so kind and friendly and I loved it.

‘You are fortunate to run in such a beautiful place and I was bowled over by it.

‘Thank you to all the volunteers and those who chatted to me while I struggled slightly with the rocky trails.

‘Next time I am here I will come back and try to beat my time.’

Lee-on-the-Solent parkrun

For the ninth week in succession Lee-on-the-Solent welcomed 300-plus runners.

Lee regular Nikki Moxham set a new personal best time of 19min 16sec and achieved a superb age-graded score of 81.06 per cent.

Southsea parkrun

It was event number 141 run with 314 finishers for Southsea parkrun.

Sam Costley, who is in the junior 15 to 17 age group, finished first with a time of 16.58.

It was his first time at Southsea.

City of Portsmouth runner Shaun Newton recorded a new personal best time of 18min 02sec – edging ever closer to the sub-18 minutes on the Southsea course.
