They had the same problem with converting chances in their previous match against Bromley.

Horsham scored twice from three corners, while Havant were unable to find the back of the net from 14 penalty corners.

But after a good run at goal Oliver Nail lifted the ball past ex Havant player Andy Isaacs in goal only to see it fall the wrong side of the post.

Horsham took the lead against the run of play with their first penalty corner as the drag flick was very well placed into the corner.

In the 42nd minute Horsham doubled their lead from another penalty corner which again was dispatched by a drag flick into the net for 2-0.

Havant pulled a goal back four minutes later after good work in midfield resulted in a three on one with Isaacs, who had been in superb form throughout.

This time he had no chance as the ball was worked around him for James Evans to convert into an empty net.

Havant sensed a comeback, but it was Horsham who had the next chance.

Keeper Tomas Santiago denied them when he saved from their third penalty corner as he pushed the ball wide.

Two minutes later Nail was knocked out after a collision in the Horsham circle.

Havant kept probing away at a Horsham defence that were in no mood to capitulate.

And the hosts held firm despite relentless pressure in the closing stages.

Fran Clements and Joanna Hounsome were on target for the Barncroft Way outfit, who slipped one place to eighth in the table.
