Nicky Atkins scored twice as Havant came agonisingly close to toppling South Clubs’ Women’s League division two leaders Epsom at Barncroft Way on Saturday.

The hosts led 2-1 going into the dying embers of the fixture, only for the Surrey outfit to snatch a leveller from a penalty corner.

Atkins had earlier cancelled out their opener with a smart finish when one-on-one with the keeper.

The striker then reacted smartly to deflect home a fierce shot from Katie Shipton to put Havant ahead.
