Alex Boxall says Fareham will not be resting on their laurels following an excellent start to the National League conference west campaign.
Fareham go into the mid-season break on the back of a club record 8-0 win over Whitchurch last weekend, so confidence is understandably high among the squad.
Skipper Boxall said: ‘Going into Christmas I set myself a target of 20 points so to be on 21 is brilliant.
‘It’s looking really promising and it sets us up well for the second half of the season.
‘The guys have been brilliant.
‘We’ve won the games we should have been winning and we’ve got goals along the way.
‘We’ve got a goal difference of plus 18 and we’re cutting out the defensive errors which people were scoring from.
‘The test is to maintain what we’ve done in the second half.
‘And that is what will be keeping people working hard over Christmas.’
Havant still have two matches to go before their winter break, starting with Staines tomorrow.
They are currently second in South League premier division one and host eighth-placed Staines at Havant College (1.30pm).
Last week they had to work hard for their 6-3 win over Spencer and were drawing 3-3 before establishing a three-goal cushion.
So the team will be keen not to drop their intensity in this weekend’s clash, especially with the crucial encounter against Old Georgians to come the following week.
Elsewhere, the club’s second string travel to Farnborough Sixth Form College to take on Yateley in Hampshire/Surrey regional division one.
