Havant are eyeing a swift return to second spot in England Hockey League conference west.

The men’s first team host Whitchurch at Havant College on Sunday as they bid to bounce back from a 3-2 defeat to Birmingham University last weekend.

The Midlands outfit leapfrogged Havant into second with that triumph.

However, they are expected to suffer defeat at the hands of runaway leaders Team Bath this weekend, leaving the coast clear for Havant to jump back above them with victory over their Welsh visitors.

In the same division, south coast rivals Fareham travel to Cardiff & UWIC tomorrow, hoping to consolidate their mid-table position.

Meanwhile, Havant’s premier ladies’ team are targeting capital gains.

They travel to Maida Vale in London to take on Hampstead & Westminster tomorrow (2pm).

Defeated 4-0 by Guildford last weekend, Kim Tyrell’s side are determined to get back on track.

However, their hosts are flying high in second place after an 8-1 battering of Southgate.

They are well placed for promotion to the National League and will be hard to stop on home soil.
