Emma Jones struck a last-minute equaliser to rescue an unlikely 3-3 draw for Fareham Ladies against Trojans 2s.
The hosts were 3-0 down before mounting a stirring second-half comeback and earning a dramatic point in South Clubs’ Women’s League division three B.
Trojans started well and took the lead in the sixth minute, after securing the turnover in midfield and scoring from open play.
The visitors had the better of the first half and rounded it off with another goal to go 2-0 up at the break.
Fareham were slow to get going in the second-half and were soon 3-0 down.
But credit to Steve Lemon’s side, who never gave up and were rewarded for their efforts.
The fightback started in the 62nd minute, when Hannah Oldham deflected a short corner into the back of the Trojans net.
A minute later Fareham stormed through Trojans’ defence and Jones converted the ball across the D to get Fareham’s second goal.
In the dying minutes of the match they were awarded a short corner.
After several passes, Jones struck the ball into the bottom left-hand side of the goal to clinch a valuable point for her side.
Elsewhere, Havant Ladies’ difficult start to the season continues.
They slumped to another defeat in South Clubs’ Women’s League division one – this time being beaten 5-0 at home to Southgate.
Mark Robinson’s side are still trying to find their feet after losing several key players over the summer.
And that has told defensively, as they have conceded 20 goals in their opening four fixtures.
