Solent Devils have completed the signing of Richard Facey.
The power forward has completed the switch to the Gosport Ice Arena after five successful years with rivals Wightlink Raiders.
Facey has tasted title success in National League division one, along with play-off glory.
A prolific point scorer, the former Gosport junior amassed 288 in 183 appearances across the Solent.
And close friend Alex Murray has spoken of his delight at the signing.
The Solent Devils player-coach said: ‘Rich is a big-game player.
‘Signing a player of his calibre once again shows the strides we are making as a club.
‘To secure a current play-off winner will not only strengthen the team but bring some valuable experience, which I think we lacked last year.
‘Having played with him the majority of my career, we both know what each other are about and I will be looking to Rich to be a leader on the ice and in the room.’
Facey, who will wear the 28 jersey this season, will be an alternate captain for the Devils this season.
And is looking forward to his Devils debut.
He said: ‘From the outside looking in, Alex has been improving the team and has created a good environment for young players who want an opportunity to move on to the next level.
‘I’m excited to be a part of the growth of this team and I’m looking forward to being involved with the development of good young players.
‘With the group we have at the moment, the aim is to finish in the top half.
‘It would really be great to challenge some of the top-end teams and hopefully add some more parity in the league.
‘For a lot of the younger guys the challenge will be to go from the team that lost 11 games by a single goal to winning a better proportion of those.
‘The team has shown they can compete but every year I have played in this league it has improved.
‘I expect this year we will see the same again, so we will have to find a way to improve even more.’
