So far the Hooks Lane side have started their campaign with three successive defeats on the road.

After finishing third and just missing out on the play-offs last season this has come as a bit of a shock.

They have struggled with playing all the matches away while their new pitch is prepared.

Head coach Knight is looking for things to quickly turnaround in their favour.

He said: '˜It hasn't been easy but the time has come for us to get on with it.

'˜Some aspects of our game have been unacceptable so far and we need to sort it out.

'˜We have quite a lot to do to bridge the gap between where we are and where we want to be.

'˜Our performances have not been up to what we are capable of for a variety of reasons.

'˜The players know that and are determined to put things right.

'˜We just need a few positive results to get the confidence up.'

Havant and Dartfordians have been struggling in defence this season.

In their past games Havant lost heavily at Brighton and the Kent side were thrashed at Camberley.

Knight added: '˜We are still stretched as a squad and it won't be an easy game.

'˜There are a number of players due back in the coming weeks.

'˜Until then we have to get on with what we have got.

'˜There is no doubt we have to be better defensively.

'˜We have to get our defensive organisation right and ensure we make our first-up tackles.

'˜If you don't make your tackles it doesn't matter how good your organisation is.

'˜The time for words are over now we need action.

'˜Our players recognise that and are keen to do it.'

Despite the difficult start it hasn't all been doom and gloom for Havant.

The situation has allowed a number of players to step up and gain invaluable experience in the senior side.

Knight knows once some of his more experienced players return Havant will look a different side.

They also have the comfort of knowing in the second half of the season they will enjoy a run of home games.
